Do you have questions about professional make-up?

How do I find the right shade of foundation?

Knowing your skin shades is vital while choosing a make-up foundation. The best place showing the main shade is the skin on your cheekbones. The other place revealing your shades is in the middle of your forehead, closer to your eyebrows. Depending on what color you see in these two areas (yellow, peach, green, pink, etc.), you can determine your skin shade. Knowing this will help you decide if you should get a warm, cool or neutral foundation. You may also want to consider buying a color-correcting primer.

What is the best way to make my lips look fuller naturally?

It is best to line the lips just along the vermilion border and completely avoid the outer corners. Fill in the lip with liner and lipstick that reflects light. It’s best to use lighter colors or bright mid-tone shades on thinner lips. Matte, dark, or brown lipsticks only make lips look thinner.

Dark Circles under the eye. What causes them, and how do I cover them up?

Dark circles under the eye can be genetic, caused by lack of sleep, or highlighted by the bone structure under your eyes. The key is to choose the correct concealer. If the circles are bluish, choose a concealer with peach tones. If they’re reddish, choose a yellow-toned concealer. Be sure to place the concealer only where the darkness is and not under the entire eye area. Enough sleep and hydration will help greatly as well.

How do I prevent my eye shadow from creasing?

No matter your eyes shape – you need to be aware of eye shadow creasing. Cream shadow or heavy smokey eyes can be problematic because the color can transfer to your upper eyelid. An eye shadow crease can also make your make-up look days old rather than freshly applied. To avoid this, use an eye shadow primer. Before applying your shadow, you should also lightly powder the lid with a setting powder.

How to prevent mascara from smudging?

Try a mascara formula that is waterproof or smudge-proof. Keep the application sheer and let it dry well after applying it. You may need to experiment with different brands and formulas as everyone’s skin and chemistry will react differently to each product. Also, using a small wand (as opposed to a thick one) and applying the mascara while concentrating on the roots and not so much on ends can help.
